Guide for injecting polystyrene beads into a partition wall
Steps to follow:
1️⃣ Drilling holes
Drill 32 mm diameter holes using a hole saw.
Place the holes as close to the wall as possible, at least every 50 cm, on a height of 2 meters along the partition wall.
2️⃣ Injecting the beads
Use a blowing injector to blow the polystyrene beads.
Dip the hose provided with the blower directly into the bag of beads.
3️⃣ Even distribution
Rotate the blower from top to bottom and from left to right to fill all spaces.
The blower automatically stops when the partition wall is completely filled.
Questions / Answers
❓ What should be checked before injecting beads into a partition wall?
✅ Check that all switches and electrical outlets are equipped with a protective box.
✅ If necessary, apply expanding foam behind the outlets and switches to prevent the beads from escaping.
❓ Should a binder be used to inject polystyrene beads?
❌ No. The addition of a binder (glue) is not recommended, because:
- It can form amalgams and create thermal bridges, reducing the efficiency of the insulation.
- It alters the insulating properties of the beads.
- A poorly dosed binder can crush the beads under its weight.
- It cancels the fire-resistant property, as most glues contain flammable solvents.
💡 Tip: For effective insulation, make sure the partition wall is well sealed before injecting the beads.
